Call me Jasmine

I knew it was coming, but when I let the dog out this morning, I couldn’t help but be shocked by how ‘chilly’ it was out compared to the hot & humid temps we’ve had lately.

I decided today was as good a day as any to wear something that would keep me a little warmer than usual:

I like to think of these super comfy and awesome harem pants as my Princess Jasmine pants. #amiright? Not that I would ever wear them with a bra top as she did – not that brave – but I love them all the same.

Also can we talk about this Forever 21 top? I absolutely adore it. It’s comfy and can be dressed up OR dressed down. Hello new favorite shirt!

Are you dressing any differently for the chill? Happy styling! xoxo -A

Weekend in Photos

This weekend was a whirlwind. Did lots of stuff, saw lots of people – which makes more an exhausting Monday morning:

Pineapple Express

When I got this pineapple tank from Khol’s, I knew it would be a perfect casual summer staple, but I wanted to wear it to work, too:

Since it could go casual pretty easily, I paired it with black basics. I added the party-cardi because it’s an arctic tundra in my office. How do you transition your casual summer staples to pieces for the office?

Tulip hem + Snakeskin

Old Navy has done it again:

I love love love this tulip-hem maxi dress from Old Navy. I was so thrilled to get a gift card for my birthday (thanks Brooks and Wanda!) and was able to get this dress and the dress I wore on the 4th on major sale!

I love this dress because it’s plain – and can be dressed up with a statement shoe like these from JustFab or dressed down with a flat sandal. These snakeskin heels are an obvious favorite – I mean come on they’re the perfect statement shoe and have been on repeat since I got them.

How are you wearing your most versatile pieces?

Happy styling! xoxo -A

Mint + Midi

I love love love this chiffon midi skirt I got on MAJOR sale at Express:

Top: H&M, Skirt: Express, Shoes: BCBG found at DSW

It’s hard to see but the band of this mini is a faux-leather – a fun and unexpected detail. This baby has been on repeat lately and will be fab in any season!

When I put this dress on, S said I looked like I should be in the Flinstones. Cue dragon lady eyes followed by him yelling “WILMAAAA” This was followed by a quick lesson on the different between scalloped edges and unfinished edges… I digress…

I found these amazingly comfy shoes on the clearance rack at DSW on my birthday, so naturally, I purchased them. They’re maybe the comfiest heels I own. Obsessed and so versatile! Do you have comfy outfits that also make you feel chic?

S&S is… ENGAGED!!

I am so thrilled to share the news of our engagement with everyone! Many of you have been asking for the whole story, so here we go:

Friday evening I left work early, and went to Target. I kept asking Seth if we needed anything and what I could buy, he kept telling me ‘just head home’ and worry about it later. I assumed it was because I shop too much BUT I came home to this lovely note on our bed and a dress laid out:

Needless to say, he knows me well and I didn’t wear the dress he picked out, but ironically opted for a white dress (I had been saying I needed somewhere to wear it because I couldn’t wear it to a wedding, obviously):

We left around 5:30, and Seth wouldn’t tell me where we were going. As we turned to drive up Mt. Washington, I figured it out – we were heading to Monterey Bay, where we had our first ‘official’ date.

As we got closer and closer to the restaurant, it started to sprinkle rain. Seth was clearly stressed about it, but still insisted we go take a selfie at the overlook across the street from the restaurant. I kept saying, “Hell no I’m wearing a white dress AND I curled my hair – and you want me to do WHAT in the rain!?” (What a biach!)

Finally he convinced me to get the picture. Saying ‘we’ll take one with your phone, then one with mine’:

My last selfie as a non-engaged woman!

Instead of reaching to pull his phone out of his pocket, he pulled out a ring box and got down on one knee:

AND he had our amazing friends hiding in the bushes to capture it all!

I, of course, said YES:

Seth planned the most perfect proposal I could have ever imagined, and I’m so happy to be able to share this exciting news!

MAJOR shoutout to our friends Marcus & Erin for taking pictures during the ordeal and for sharing such a special day with us – ya’ll are the BEST!

I can’t wait to share the journey of engagement and wedding planning with you all!

Nude + Chambray

I’ve had this chambray dress in my closet for a couple seasons, and it’s a great ‘neutral’ go-to. Although sometimes I’m not sure just what shoes to pair it with. When I saw this post form Carrie Bradshaw Lied, I knew nude was the way to go:

I love this look because it’s simple and comfortable, but put together at the same time.

Happy Friday!! xoxo -A

Chambray + Hot Pink

Dress: Old Navy (on sale!), Heels: JustFab, Ring: Charming Charlie

Dress: Old Navy (on sale!), Heels: JustFab, Ring: Charming Charlie

I had been eyeing this Old Navy chambray dress for a couple months, but never pulled the trigger. Turns out, it was a good thing because I ended up getting it for under $15!

I wore this over the weekend with brown wedges, and wanted to switch it up for work. You know I love a pop of color, so I opted for my new fave (and surprisingly very comfy!) JustFab lace up heels.

Old Navy has all their dresses on sale – so be sure to check them out!
