Fall Boots with Gabes: Part II

Success on Stilettos, a Cincinnati fashion and beauty blog; fall booties on a budget with Gabes

Super excited to be back again today to share another set of amazing finds from one of my favorite stores, Gabes! Yesterday, I shared a really cute pair of distressed cognac booties which is a perfect a casual fall look, so today I wanted to share something a little dressier, in that the darker hues feel perfect for a chilly date-night.

These booties are from Express, but I scooped them up for under $15, yes you read that right. I love the sheen of the black as well. I think it really gives them a high-end feel and the perfect touch of edge to an all black outfit.

This off-shoulder sweater is also Express but at a fraction of the price (like, under $10!). It makes me want to cozy up in front of a fire, but also is chic enough to wear for a cooler night out. #allaboutit

What to wear to: Holiday parties (Part I)

holiday party style success on stilettos

When I think of the holidays, I don’t immediately think BUSY, but let’s be real, I probably should. From cocktail parties to work functions and family gatherings – it can be hard to decide what to wear when you’re being pulled in a million directions. I like to look to my tried-and-true wardrobe workhouses when getting dressed for events – that way I always feel my best.

When I came across these flannel pumps, I knew I had to have them for all things festive AND they’d go with everything, even once Christmas is over. You can never go wrong with a little pattern-mixing. Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered no matter the occasion – later this week, I’m going to share another more casual party outfit.

Button-up flannel: J.Crew Factory // Skirt: Ann Taylor via Gabes (almost identical here, more linked below!)

Necklace & Bracelets: Charming Charlie (almost identical, under $25!) // Bag: Dooney&Bourke (gift, LOVE this one!)

Heels: DSW // Sunnies: Marshall’s // Lip: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Cream in ‘Cruella’

Dress accordingly,

Tights Rebel

True life: I am a tights rebel. What does this mean, you ask? I hold on to bare legs with every fabric of my being for as long as I can. Each year, I typically wait until the first snowfall before I even think about putting my legs in leg jail – yes, I’m serious.

In my defense, the weather has been SO mild (yeah, probably jinxing myself) that I haven’t seen the need yet. I mean, two days ago it was 50 degrees – whaaaaa!?

This is one of my favorite neutral outfits – I’ve been recreating it over and over this fall (especially thanks to the mild weather). The best part? The cardigan and booties – are from Gabes!

Dress: Old Navy // Cardigan & Booties: Gabes // Necklace: Chico’s // Lip: NARS ‘Rikugien’

Dress accordingly,

Oxblood off-shoulder

I came across this pretty off-shoulder top while visiting the new Gabes in Florence and despite the sheer sleeves, I knew the bordeaux color of the top would make it totally acceptable for fall.. right? Either way, I’m going for it.

A New Classic: Faux Leather Pleats

dsc_1433

I mentioned last week that when the ladies of Thread and I headed to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets a few weeks ago, I was on the hunt for a faux leather skirt. I knew I wanted to hit J.Crew Factory, because they never disappoint when it comes to classics (like this flannel). They came through for me yet again with a twist on classic pleats.

The perfect OTK boot

If you caught yesterday’s post, you know I recently took a trip to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets with the ladies of Thread. While I didn’t share ’em yesterday, I think these black OTK boots are my favorite purchase (and best deal) from my shopping spree.

I found this pretty cold-shoulder LBD on my recent trip to the grand opening of Gabes in Florence and I’ve styled it a ton of different ways already (earlier on with booties). I’m pretty sure this dress was under $15 – it doesn’t get better than that.

I love these suede OTK boots. The best part? They were marked down well under their original price – I knew I had to have them.

Fall Style with Gabes

If you know me at all, you probably know what a huge fan and advocate I am of shopping at Gabriel Brothers (aka Gabes).

If at this point you’re asking yourself what the hell is this place – let me enlighten you (and change your shopping world): Gabes is an extreme value fashion and home retailer and has been a first-choice for this frugal fashionista for years. They operate stores in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Tennessee. I was first introduced to the store by the original frugal fashionista; my mother, and have been an advocate of theirs for the better part of my life.

Still confused? Think: Steve Madden calf hair booties for under $30, and other name brands like Express, 7 For All Man Kind, Juicy, Nannette Lapore, Michael Kors, to name a few I’ve seen over the years.

You can imagine my excitement when they asked me to check out their brand new store in Florence, KY and do some shopping! I was immediately impressed with the 50,000+ sq. ft. store. It was very clean, well-organized and bright. Plus, they had an amazing selection of on-trend pieces at legitimately unbeatable prices.

Sweater & Jeans: Gabes – I didn’t recognize the brand on the turtleneck but the jeans are originally Express and I snagged ’em for under $20! // Heels: Target (last year – similar) // Bracelets: F21 // Lip: MAC ‘Rebel’

Whenever I hit stores with particularly large selections, I always try to make a list of specific pieces (or ideas) I want to add to my wardrobe. Dark wash denim can never be passed up (you can never have too many pairs of jeans, right!?) and I’d been wanting a cream sleeveless turtleneck for the fall, too!

Frugal Friday: Style lately

Happy Friday, everyone! I’m on coffee numero dos, which means productivity will amp up soon… I hope.

As you know, I started my new job this week in Pittsburgh! I quickly discovered that the dress is similar to that of my old job – relatively casual for day-to-day, when we don’t have events or meetings. So here’s what I’ve been wearing this week, and the outfits that inspired them.

True to form for spring, the weather has been all over the place, which is why I wore a sweater (below) yesterday and a maxi today.

I found the blue and white maxi a while back at TJ Maxx, and haven’t been able to wear it yet. I couldn’t quite decide how to style it for a ‘casual’ office situation – there’s a line between professionally casual and beach casual which is why I opted for sandals but not sleeveless.

Maxi: TJ Maxx, Blazer: Gabes, Sandals: Steve Madden (old), Bracelets: Francesca's

I loved when I see a look I really love and realize I already have similar pieces in my closet to recreate it (which is what happened with both the following outfits):

Blazer: Gabes, Sweater: Gap, Pants: Khol's, Pumps: Jessica Simpson via 6pm.com, Watch: Francesca's, Necklace: F21

Top & Shoes: Charlotte Russe, Jeans: American Eagle, Necklace: Express

The final look is what I wore on my last day of work at my last job:

Blazer: H&M, Tee: Cynthia Rowley via TJ Maxx, Jeans: American Eagle, Shooties: BCBG via Marshall's

I love the challenge of recreating looks I love on Pinterest or other blogs for a fraction of the price!

Happy Friday everyone! xoxo

Frugal Fashionista: Real Girl Real Style

This week’s addition of Real Girl Real Style focuses some of my favorite fall looks; the army trend, booties, camel colored everything and winter white.

Sometimes, the simplest outfits are the chicest and are the best – like this simple Gap sweater with a scarf and booties. Definitely a go-to for me this fall and winter:

Sweater: Gap, Scarf: Elder Beerman, Jeans: American Eagle, Booties: Michael Antonio via Gabes

I found these booties for just $12.99 at Gabes in PA near my boyfriends house. Talk about a steal.

I love the next two looks for a slightly dressier day OR night look. These are perfect for a slightly dressier day at work for me (I work in a moderately casual office) or for a holiday get-together (Yes, I know it’s only October – planning ahead people!).

Jacket: Anne Klein via Macy's, Black Top: Banana Republic Factory, Oxblood Jeans: Charlotte Russe, Booties: Target, Necklace: Charlotte Russe, Watch: Francesca's

I recently did a guest blog post for the WV Style team (check it out here!), in which I detailed how to transition your summer clothes into the fall/winter. White jeans were a part of that post, so here’s how I wore my winter whites:

My inspiration look is from a newly discovered blog, Penny Pincher Fashion. It’s quickly become one of my all time favorite blogs to visit because it genuinely lives up to its name – there are legitimate frugal finds on her blog:

Frugal Fashionista: Fab Finds of the Week – Gabes & Gap

This week and last, I made trips to both Gabriel Brothers (in Kanawha City in Charletson) and Gap in the Town Center Mall.

If you know me, you know I’ve always been a huge fan on Gabes. Some of my favorite pairs of J.Brand jeans I purchased there for just $20. I also find Express clothing there for inexpensive prices, too. It’s important to keep in mind that you have you give yourself time to ‘dig’ at Gabes. On the surface, it may look like a cluttered store with nothing worth buying, but IT ISN’T, I promise!!

Here are some of my finds from this week:

I was excited to find this pretty blue versatile dress - I can wear it with my cowgirl boots or with flat sandals or wedges. It was just $12.99!

I'm not huge into the high-low trend, so I haven't decided how I'm going to style this dress yet, but it definitely needs a belt. I couldn't pass it up - I love the color and it was $7.

When I first picked up this bodycon skirt, I thought 'there is NO way this is going on my body, but what the hell I'll try it anyway.' I'm glad I did because it was insanely inexpensive AND fit like a glove.

This sheath dress is from The Limited and was a STEAL for approx $12. The detail shown here is the back, the front is plain black. It was missing a belt, but I rarely use the belt that comes with a dress anyway.

I ventured to The Gap, 30 percent off coupon in hand, earlier this week in search of a second pair of their skinny cigarette pants (I could seriously wear them EVERY. DAY.). I notice that they had a rack of shoes with a ‘SALE’ sign, and was thrilled to see they were marked down to just $15/ea. (original tag said $50). I quickly grabbed two pair, and took them to the register – only to find out they were just $7 (so, naturally, I had to grab a third pair):

Possibly the best deal I've ever gotten from Gap.
