Success on Stilettos; a Cincinnati fashion and beauty blog; fall boots on a budget with Gabes

Friday, we meet again! For some reason, this week has seemed to drag by. Even though I’m working a good portion of the weekend, I’m looking forward to a relaxing Sunday of hot yoga + a manicure. Anyway, here’s what I’ve been reading this week:

What to do in Cincinnati; Mad Tree Brewery

Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited it’s finally the weekend. Tomorrow, I’m heading to the Union Center Food Truck Festival, and Saturday I’m heading to fellow blogger babe, Molly’s wedding.

I wanted to share some link love and what I’m loving lately:

Shopping: I don’t know why, but I’m all about these rose gold birkenstocks. Probably super basic of me, but I think they’ll be perfect with skinny jeans and a blouse. I recently saw a girl wearing a pair and she looked super chic, and knew I had to had to have them.

Wearing:The theme this week seems to be old favorites. You may remember this SheIn dress from last Summer, but I still love it. (Catch that post here.) I’ve also had my favorite cutoff shorts (last seen here) on repeat too.

Reading: Did you catch this post on books you should add to your reading list? I’m also going to be scooping up the latest from Ruth Ware, The Lying Game soon.

Watching: I started Ozark last night and am literally watching it as I write this. Jason Bateman is per usual, amazing and the premise is so. good. Start watching now! (Side note: the trailer for the new season of The Crown is out, and I cannot WAIT til’ December).

Cincy-ing: One of my favorite things about this city is all the local breweries and restaurants. I love being able to get a delicious meal and unique craft brew while also supporting local business. Some friends and I hit up Mad Tree (pictured above) over last weekend, and it was so fun just hanging around talking.

Eating: I can’t recommend Nation Bar & Kitchen in downtown Cincy enough. In my opinion, they have the best burgers in the city (plus a really cool backstory).

Loving: Kopari Coconut Rose toner. I’ve been spraying this on my fave after washing and it’s SO good you guys. The smell is amazing, it comes in an easy spray bottle AND it tightens pores without drying my skin. FINALLY.

Trying: Sunday Riley U.F.O. ultra-clarifying face oil. I’ve heard great things about all their products, so something that claims to clear pores without overdrying? Sign me up!

Style accordingly,

Success on Stilettos, a Cincinnati fashion blog;

You GUYS! We made it through yet another week. It’s been chilly here in Cincy, but it’s warming up this weekend and I’m super excited for my weekend plans:

  • Namas-DEY – Fellow Threadie Elise and I are heading to the Bengals stadium for a little Saturday morning yoga. While I’ll always be #SteelerzfoLyfe, I’m excited to get outside and be active in a unique setting.
  • 50 West Canoe and Kayak / Sand Volleyball – Seriously, if you live in the Nati and haven’t done this, you’re totally missing out. Seeing a trend here? Lots of outdoor activities, but I’m really trying to get out and be active this Summer. I play sand volleyball weekly, but I’ve been itching to play more frequently and I’m super lucky to have a group of friends who loves it as much as I do.

A night out at the Style + Sustainability Gala

A couple weeks ago, the ladies of Thread Cincy and I had a night out at the Style + Sustainability Gala. The night was not only a unique experience, but it was the perfect girls night. As I mentioned, it’s so great to get out with a group of friends and explore what makes Cincy unique.

dress : F21 (similar off-shoulder version) //  heels: Zigi Soho via DSW (similar, similar) // necklace: F21 (similar) // lip: Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Pure Hollywood’

We also gota talk about this amazing cape dress. It’s super comfy, chic AND it’s affordable. Like, under $30 affordable. You need to go get it now – regardless of whether or not you have somewhere to wear it yet. You will, you will!

Friday Faves

Happy Friday, ya’ll! I’m super excited for this Friday in particular because I’m heading to the motherland Athens to celebrate Homecoming. I’m probably most excited about the foods I plan to consume – Bagel Street Deli, O’Betty’s, Courtside Pizza to name a few – but also to see some of my favorite friends and really just to be back on the brick streets. We didn’t really get to celebrate our anniversary because we were both working, so heading back to where we met will be a much-welcomed trip.

I wanted to also share a few life lately snaps:

My look from the Style + Sustainability Gala last weekend – full post coming on this one next week!

Gorgeous sunset at a work event earlier this week.

Stickers from some of my favorite local breweries.

Brisket tacos. ‘Nuff said.

Gorgeous view from our anniversary dinner last night.

I’ve got an extensive wish list for fall/winter including:

Have a great weekend!

Cincy-gram: Weekend in Photos

This weekend was pretty great, if I do say so myself. Some days, you just need an impromptu Sunday Funday with your hubby – which is exactly what we did yesterday.

I started the day solo at the Taft Museum of Art for the Dressing Downton exhibit. It was SO worth it. If you have any interest in fashion at all, I highly suggest checking it out – completely worth the $20.

Fun fact: The fictional Cora Crawley on Downton is Cincinnati-born – so it makes perfect sense they’d bring the exhibit here!

I apologize for the crappy iPhone pics – they do NOT do the gorgeousness of these

After the exhibit, we headed to Hangover Easy for brunch. OU folks, I like to call it a hipster Union Street Diner.

A breakfast sandwich made from a Holtman's donut - doesn't get much better.

After brunch, we headed for an impromptu zoo visit – which was awesome, because fun fact: you can drink in the zoo. GAME CHANGER.

This very cute cheetah in a onesie is adorable. He’s wearing this outfit because he has a feeding tube – these little guys’ momma died and they’re being cared for by the zoo veterinarians.

Hope you had a FANtastic weekend! WHat are your favorite things to do in Cincinnati!?

Weekend in Photos

This weekend was definitely one for the books. One of our favorite couples visited us for a weekend of food, great beer and exploring Cincinnati:

Started the day at Venice pizzeria in OTR. The building that houses this Cincy-favorite is supposedly where Annie Oakley was discovered.
